We believe strongly in the importance of preserving Black History, making it visible so Black people’s history of contributions may be understood, respected, and recognized and serve as a resource for inspiring and motivating people of all nationalities. The Black Heroes Statue Gardens that Ògo Tàwa seeks to bring to the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area will help achieve this aim.

For centuries in Canada, Black leaders have made outstanding contributions to advancing all of Canadian society. The legacy of our nation's Black heroes are little known. The Black Heroes Statue Gardens spotlights these legacies in anti-racist ways that will help foster greater interracial harmony, enhance social cohesion, reduce racial trauma and improve the mental health of BIPOC individuals as well as their allies.

Designed with artists from West Africa and the first of its kind, the new gardens will be national landmarks, situated on prime publicly accessible locations in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
